TNC secures slot for ESL One Genting 2018

The team will now be competing in the stacked Minor, happening just right after Galaxy Battles II.

In what was a hotly-contested Game 5, TNC Pro Team once again showed their resilience by defeating Clutch Gamers 3:2 in the Grand Finals of ESL One Genting 2018’s SEA Qualifier. It wasn’t easy, as the scores would show. The whole of Game 5 was hanging on a balance, both teams in a precarious position to take the lead. When it mattered most, TNC delivered.

Clutch Gamers fought valiantly and viciously. Their lineup was strong in teamfights, especially in Game 5 where they had Chappie on a Phantom Assassin. However, despite winning crucial teamfights, CG was hopelessly unequipped for a high ground siege. TNC was careful not to slip and open their gates against CG’s attacks. Kuku’s Shadow Fiend played a dominant role in keeping their team ahead, and the Shadow Fiend became scarily strong with the Octarine Core pickup, making him nigh-invincible. They started taking out CG off one by one, then used the opportunity to siege their third tier towers. Eventually, CG fell when all three of their lanes were exposed, handing over the Minor slot to TNC.

ESL One Genting 2018 will be the second Minor outing for TNC, and the third LAN Valve event, just right after Galaxy Battles II. It will be held from January 23 to January 28, and will be sporting a total of sixteen teams: Eight teams from the Regional Qualifiers, and eight teams directly invited.

The teams that TNC will be fighting against include, Team Liquid, Newbee, Mineski, Evil Geniuses, Team Secret, Fnatic and Vici Gaming. So far, two other teams have emerged victorious from their respective qualifiers: Planet Dog and PENTA Sports.

With sixteen teams in the tournament, ESL One Genting 2018 will be different from the other Minors in that it will feature 400 QP, as opposed to the usual 300. The prize pool is already higher at $400,000 (~Php 20,000,000).
