Invictus Gaming wins DAC 2017

Q leads his team for a comeback victory against OG in the Grand Finals of the Dota2 Asia Championship 2017 yesterday.

Invictus Gaming made a great run yesterday to win the Grand Finals and the  $244,798 (Php12,239,900) grand prize. Back with a vengeance after being sent to the lower bracket by OG, they first swept Newbee in the lower bracket finals, before sweeping OG as well in the Best of 5 Grand Finals.

It would seem that iG finally found out OG’s biggest weakness, even though OG had been, until yesterday, dominating the tournament, losing only once against Team VG.J in the group stage. iG gave a very convincing finish to the tournament by going 3-0 against OG in the Grand Finals, not even giving OG a chance for a comeback.

iG’s victory cannot be attributed to a single player, as the whole team really showed how high individual skill could convert to a great team performance. Team captain Q played two games as Warlock and delivered a great performance, punishing OG in their aggressive plays, forcing OG on the defensive. BurNIng playing as carry Vengeful Spirit in the third game showed the versatility of iG’s team picks.

Meanwhile, Op did most of the killings in all three games, completely wiping off the team members of OG in teamfights. Xxs’s great positioning led to a lot of one-sided trades, and finally BoBoka’s play as Riki is a sight to behold (too bad he’s mostly invi). Who would’ve thought that three Rings of Aquila on Riki would be a great build for him?

Despite Team China losing the All-Star game, it is still the Chinese defending their homecourt successfully in the DAC. With the Kiev Major just around the corner, would iG be able to ride their momentum and continue their winning spree into more championships? Would OG continue their streak as the masters of the Majors?
