Fnatic to replace HappyFeet in ESL One Hamburg 2017

Sad news for fans of the penguins, but they will not be competing in Hamburg next week.

Thanks to the omnipresent barrier to international Dota2 competitions called visa issues, HappyFeet will not be able to represent the SEA region in the first Major of the season. A statement from HappyFeet’s social media accounts read:

“We would like to thank everyone who helped and supported us while we were trying to process our visas. Sadly, our visas won’t make it in time thus we won’t be able to attend the event. GLHF to all the teams!”

HF received a Tier 1 invite from ESL for the SEA Qualifiers, and defeated Clutch Gamers in the Finals to secure their slot in the Main Stage. However, due them not securing their visas, they will be missing out in the action in Germany next week. This unfolded despite the endorsement of Senator Bam Aquino and the Gaming and Amusements Board of the Philippines.

Taking their place is Fnatic, consisting of EternalEnvy, DJ, Ohaiyo, Xcalibur and pieliedie. This tournament will be Fnatic’s LAN debut for their new roster, which will be facing tough competition in the form of Evil Geniuses, Newbee and Team Secret in their group. Fnatic also received tier 1 invite from ESL for the SEA Qualifiers of ESL One Hamburg, but they lost against Clutch Gamers in the semifinals.
