Hearthstone Global Games Philippine Team member Cara “CaraCute” Vergel De Dios will now be playing under the orange banner of TNC Pro Team, as TNC diversifies to Hearthstone.
Representing the Philippines in the biggest international competitive Hearthstone tournament, organized by Blizzard themselves, Cara Vergel De Dios will be joining the ranks of TNC Pro Team from here on out.
“TNC is known to be one of the best Philippine based gaming organizations,” says Cara in an interview. “I’m happy and proud that they considered me as they ventured into the Hearthstone scene. This gives me more encouragement to perform well and provide championships to the team. I Hope they continue to promote e-sports in the Philippines and help players like to me to show what we can do.”
Playing under the gamertag CaraCute, Cara was one of the four Filipinos competing in the international stage. Her teammates in the tournament are Chalk, WaningMoon and WESG 2016 Champion Staz.
Cara, along with Chalk and Staz, where voted by fans to represent the Philippines for the Global Games. WaningMoon, on the other hand, automatically qualified to represent the country for being the Philippines’ highest points-earner.
CaraCute and the rest of the Philippine team aim to add the Global Games in their list of accomplishments, as they continue their quest in the group stage, going against the teams from Ukraine, Czech Republic, Belarus, Germany and Croatia.
This won’t be Cara’s first time to compete internationally, as her aggressive playstyle has allowed her to compete in the Hearthstone Championship Tour APAC Winter Playoffs 2017. She just recently won the Zotac Cup Americas Finals and is the Philippines’ first Tavern Hero. She’s also currently the highest ranked Filipino in GosuGamers’ Power Rankings.
The Philippine team will be playing their next match Tuesday next week against Croatia, and will be closing off their group stage against Belarus on June 13. Both matches can be watched live here at 4PM local time.
“Hearthstone is in the best state when it comes to meta ever since the new Hearthstone year started this April,” Cara said when asked about what she thinks of the current meta. “Almost all 9 of the classes are being represented and there are different types of decks for each hero so the game state is very healthy and competitive.”
Team Philippines is currently down 1-2 in their group in the Global Games, but they still have the chance to advance to the next round if they beat both Belarus and Croatia in their upcoming games. The Grand Champions of the Global Games will be receiving $60,000 (~Php3,000,000) for their valiant effort.
